You should also be aware of the characteristics of the German Shepherd breed, and that they are not for everyone. German Shepherds, as is their name, were originally bred to be herding dogs. Because of this, even calm adults will need plenty of exercise as puppies. German Shepherds are highly intelligent and make excellent companions; their new parents should be prepared to spend the time and energy needed for raising their new puppy. German Shepherds are strong in body, spirit and mind, and because of this, they need much attention, exercise, love and firm leadership as they grow. If these needs are kept at the forefront, then the puppies that we have raised and your amazing new puppy will grow to have a healthy, happy, long life.
